Shadow. Libro objeto
It is the last work of a graphic design course. All the work was done in 8 hours.
The chosen theme is: the possible contrasts of a life, an object, nature ... In this way the book is formed by 10 pages, among which there is a simple and pure figure protruding, on each side of the figure , on the pages there are drawings made, which without the shadow created by the figure are incomplete.
Following the sequence of the images can be interpreted a certain order of evolution in the figures: childhood, adolescence, maturity and old age. You can also interpret the positive or negative circumstances or different moods that may exist in a life.
Although the possibility of passing all the drawings to the computer, retouching them, printing them and binding them was considered, it was finally decided to leave them as they were in the original sheets in order to obtain a more artistic and personal result. When deciding to work with the original sheets and that the drawings are made with watercolors, the sheets are thick and perhaps a bit uncomfortable when it comes to keeping the book open. For this reason, in the photos you can see the fingers of a collaborator keeping the book freshly stuck and not mistreat it yet, holding the leaves. It is believed that the more you open and close the book, the less effort you will have to leave the pages open.
Finally, once the watercolors sheets were painted, in size A5, the figures were placed between the white cardboard pages, and bound with a black cardboard cover with a black leather finish.
As the title of the object book Shadow was given, given the game that provides shadows that can be reflected inside. As it is necessary to use some kind of light to appreciate the game of the book, a help phrase has been added: The secret is in the light. In this way a clue is given to enjoy the experience but without saying it directly. The title was added to the first page, so to know it you have to open the cover, a kind of game like the whole book.
It should be noted that depending on the position in which the light is placed, the shadow is different, this, together with the drawings, provides a bit of play, given that they are made so that the shadows are perfectly placed in them.
Being a fairly comprehensive work, there are many images: give the end of the page to see more images to enjoy all the work.
On the left side you can see a kind of floor with toys, representing the beginning of childhood. To the right is the end of it, where the toys end up in the trash.
In these photos are represented the adolescence. First, everything is light and color, like the beach, but then it turns gray, sad and cold, like rain. It can also be interpreted. It can also be interpreted as simply summer and winter.
From the first moment and without shadow, you simply see two spots of different colors, although you can see quite different colors between both pages.
Once the light is on, it can be seen that the green spot represents a tree with a lush foliage, at its maximum splendor.
Putting the shadow on the opposite side, the drawing makes sense, turning the whole into a tree that has already lost its leaves, which are on the ground at the foot of the trunk.
